A lucet cord, or kaaruspael in Estonian, is a four-sided ribbon traditionally crafted from red, green, blue, or yellow wool yarn. A specialized lucet hook is used to create this distinctive cord. In South Estonia, lucet cords were used to adorn women's jackets and both men's and women's long coats. They were also sewn onto the hems of skirts. On the islands, these cords served as button fastenings.

This workshop offers a comprehensive exploration of historical lucet cord techniques. Participants will learn how to create, finish, and attach lucet cords using a lucet hook. You'll have the opportunity to experiment with various historical decorative techniques, including fringing, twisting, and creating slash flap fringes and buttonholes. A woolen fabric folder will be provided as a practice surface.

All necessary materials, including colored wool yarn, lucet hooks, ribbons for slash flaps, a sewn woolen folder, needles, and buttons, are included in the participation fee. Participants are welcome to bring their own yarn and clothing items for decoration. This course is ideal for beginners.
